2017-2018 Company Auditions

Western Arkansas Ballet Company Auditions

Western Arkansas Ballet, a non-profit dance academy and pre-professional company, will hold open auditions for positions in their company for the 2017-2018 season.  The auditions are Thursday, May 18, 2017.  Audition class for ages 11-13 will be from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.  Class for ages 14 and up will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Western Arkansas Ballet studio, located at 4701 Grand Avenue in Fort Smith, Arkansas.  The audition fee is $25.  Candidates should arrive 30 minutes prior to the audition class time in order to register.

Candidates for company positions should be at least 11 years of age or have completed the 6th grade and have at least three years of ballet experience.  The dress code for the audition class is black leotard, pink tights, ballet shoes, pointe shoes (for those with at least one year of pointe class) and hair pulled away from face in a nice bun for women.  Men are to wear black tights or shorts, white t-shirt and ballet shoes.

The 2017-2018 Western Arkansas Ballet Company’s performing season includes the 32nd Annual production of The Nutcracker, a Spring Ballet, Spring Dance Concert, Dance Fusion and the Regional Dance America Festival in Richardson, TX.

Each company member, after acceptance by the adjudication committee, will be required to attend ballet classes three to five times per week as well as rehearsals two to four times per week.  If you have any questions, please call our Executive Artistic Director, Melissa Schoenfeld at 479-785-0152.

Western Arkansas Ballet II Company Auditions

Western Arkansas Ballet, a non-profit dance academy and pre-professional company, announces open auditions for positions in their junior company, WAB II. Auditions for the 2017-2018 Season will be held Friday, May 19, 2017.  Audition class for ages 9-11 will be from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Western Arkansas Ballet studio located at 4701 Grand Avenue in Fort Smith, Arkansas.  The audition fee is $25.  Candidates should arrive 30 minutes prior to the audition class time in order to register.

Candidates for company positions should be 9-11 years of age and have at least two years of ballet experience. The dress code for the audition class is solid color leotard, pink tights, and ballet shoes. Hair should be pulled away from the face in a nice bun.

The 2016-2017 WAB II performing season includes the 32nd Annual production of The Nutcracker, a Spring Ballet and a Spring Dance Concert.

Each company member, after acceptance by the adjudication committee, will be required to attend three 90-minute ballet technique classes per week (including one WAB II Company class) and a modern dance class for their level.
