Auditions for our 27th annual production of The Nutcracker will be on Saturday, September 15th.
Our annual production presents the community and the Western Arkansas Ballet Company an opportunity to perform Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker. Professional artists are brought in perform along with over 100 local children and adults. This year's performances will be on Saturday, December 8th at 7:30 pm and Sunday, December 9th at 2:30 pm at the Arkansas Best Corporation Performing Arts Center in downtown Fort Smith.
Auditions will take place at the studio; participants must have at least 2 years experience in dance and/or gymnastics.
Audition times are as follows with the first 30 minutes set aside for registration:
Girls 6-8 10-noon
Boys 6-9 10:30-noon
Boys 10-12 12:30-2 pm
Girls 9-10 noon-2 pm
Girls 11 & up 2-3:30 pm

Auditions for the 2013-2014 Season will be held May 30, 2013 at the Western Arkansas Ballet Studios.
Candidates for company positions should be at least 11 years of age and have at least three years of ballet experience. The dress code for the audition class for ladies is a black leotard, pink tights, ballet shoes, pointe shoes (for those with at least one year of pointe class), and hair pulled away from face in a nice bun; for men, black tights or shorts, a white t-shirt and ballet shoes. Please remember no jewelry, no gum, and appropriate appearance is required. Without these requirements, you may not be allowed to audition.
The 2013-2014 Western Arkansas Ballet Company’s performing season includes: the 28thAnnual production of The Nutcracker, Earquake! with the Fort Smith Symphony, Spring Dance Concert in Fort Smith, AR, the Regional Dance America Festival, a full-length ballet in the Spring and the Fall, and various other performances as required.
Each company member, after acceptance by the adjudicating committee, will be required to attend ballet classes up to 5 times a week as well as rehearsals up to 4 times a week. If you have any questions, please call our Artistic Director, Melissa Schoenfeld, 479-785-0152.
